The 3-in-1 PVC mounting bracket (SKU 517) is MD's best-selling backing bracket for rectangle-style basic inlet valve covers, handling both new construction and existing-home central vacuum installations with one part.
New construction: nail or screw the bracket to a stud before the drywall goes up. Existing homes: cut off the plastic stud-mounting side and set the bracket into a 2-3/8 by 4-1/4 inch hole cut in the drywall or wall material — gluing the pipe fitting on before mounting makes retrofit work easier. Either way, fasten the inlet cover (with its attached low-voltage wire) to the backing plate — the result is a firm hold that lasts.
