Slide this over a central vacuum hose to keep the bare hose from marking up walls, door frames and furniture as you drag it room to room. It is a stretchy knit fabric in a grey and charcoal two-tone, sized for hoses up to 35 feet, and it comes with an install tube to make fitting it easier (part 30602).
Threading a snug knit sock over a long hose by hand is slow and tends to bunch the fabric partway down. The included tube gives the knit something rigid to slide over first, so you feed the hose through the tube and the sock rolls off it onto the hose in one pass instead of working it along inch by inch. Once it is on, the knit flexes with the hose as it coils for storage rather than fighting the hose's natural bend.

This is a cover for an existing hose rather than a hose itself, and its stretch knit is sized around the crushproof hose diameters found on typical whole-house installs. Measure your hose length before ordering so the sock has enough coverage without excess bunched at one end, and check its stretch range against your hose if you are running an oversized 1-3/8-inch hose rather than the more common 1-1/4-inch size. A sock that is fitted while the hose is stretched out straight seats more evenly than one worked on while the hose is coiled.
