Plastiflex 45-Degree Sweep ...

Product details

A forty-five degree sweep elbow changes the direction of a central vacuum's PVC tubing run gradually rather than sharply, which matters more than it sounds like it should. Debris travels through the pipe at high speed, and a gentle sweep lets it ride around the bend instead of slamming into a hard corner where clogs tend to start.

Long trunk-line runs often use a pair of forty-five degree elbows together to work pipe around a joist, a doorway, or some other obstruction, and that combination handles the detour more gently than a single ninety-degree turn would, without introducing the turbulence a sharp angle creates. Every joint in the system also has to be airtight, since even one leaking fitting is felt as reduced suction at every inlet on that run, not just the nearest one.

This is the Plastiflex SV8056, a fitting confirmed compatible with the Sirena 6201 central vacuum system. Use PVC solvent cement rated for central vacuum fittings, and dry-fit your run before committing any joint to cement.

Pairing two forty-five degree elbows to make an offset around an obstruction is generally a better choice than a single ninety where the space allows it, since the combined bend keeps the airstream moving in a gentler curve overall. Keep the two elbows close enough together that the short straight section between them does not become its own collection point for debris. Support the tubing on either side of the fitting before the cement sets, since an unsupported elbow can sag slightly out of alignment while the joint cures and leave a stress point once it hardens.
