Lux VM3 Motor Carbon Brushe...

Product details
This is a set of two replacement carbon brushes for the Lux VM3 vacuum motor, listed against motor reference U6500-325. Carbon brushes are the small spring-loaded blocks that ride against the motor's spinning commutator, carrying electrical current into the rotor while they slide. Because they are a wear part by design, they shorten a little every time the motor runs, and a motor that has logged years of use will eventually need a fresh set to keep running at full strength.
Brushes are always replaced in pairs on a motor with two brush positions, since a fresh brush paired with a worn one will not press against the commutator evenly and can wear unevenly or arc. Watch for the signs that brushes, rather than bearings or the field windings, are the cause of a motor problem: intermittent power that comes and goes as the vacuum is moved or bumped, a faint burning smell, visible sparking through the motor's vent slots, or a motor that runs weaker than it used to but still spins freely by hand when the vacuum is unplugged.
Because carbon brushes wear at a predictable rate tied to motor run time, checking or replacing them is a normal part of maintaining an older canister vacuum rather than a sign that the motor itself has failed. If a fresh set of brushes does not restore full power, the problem is more likely in the commutator, bearings, or windings, and the motor itself may need service or replacement.
