These inlets are the low, floor-level openings built into a kitchen toe-kick or a similar baseboard spot, letting anyone with a broom push crumbs and dust straight into the system without ever picking up the hose. This adapter is the transition piece between that inlet body and the tubing it feeds.

Sitting at floor level, a sweep inlet takes a direct hit from whatever gets pushed toward it, from fine dust up to the occasional larger scrap, and the fitting linking the inlet to the pipe run is the point most likely to crack or work loose after years of that use.
