This brush roll is built for Bissell's CleanView Compact Turbo upright, covering the 3437 series (including 3437F and 3437G), the 3436 series (34362, 34374, 34379), model 3441, and 37377.
Bissell lists part 163-3659 as a brush roll in black with white bristles. The bristles ride down into the carpet pile and rotate against the nap, working loose the dirt, sand, and pet hair that plain suction leaves behind, while the end supports keep the roll turning true in the cleaning head. On a compact upright the roll is doing most of the work on low-pile carpet, where airflow on its own barely lifts the nap.

Bristles that have gone visibly flat on one side, or a roll thick with wound hair and thread, are the usual signs it's time to swap the roll rather than just clear it out.
