This replacement carbon motor brush (part #10-9-4691) is made for the NSS M-1 dry-only tank vacuum motor. Carbon brushes ride against the commutator and carry current into the spinning armature.
Carbon brushes wear down steadily with use, and once they run short the motor sparks, runs intermittently, or loses power. Worn brushes left in place can score the commutator and cause lasting motor damage. Fresh brushes restore a clean electrical contact and steady motor operation.
