Trovac Air Relief Valve for...

Product details
Part TDBLEEDVA1 installs directly into a run of 2 in. PVC central vacuum tubing and opens on its own if a hose or a section of pipe further along becomes blocked. Opening lets outside air into the line, so the power unit keeps a path to pull air through rather than fighting a dead stop somewhere in the system.
A central vacuum motor relies on the air moving through it to carry heat away, so a full blockage that cuts that airflow off entirely also leaves the motor running hotter than it should. On a long pipe run, or a network with several branches feeding into one trunk, a relief valve gives the system a place to draw air from during a clog rather than leaving the motor to labor against a sealed line until someone finds and clears the blockage.
- Part: TDBLEEDVA1
- Pipe size: 2 in.
- Function: admits outside air into the line during a blockage
Bond the valve with a PVC cement rated for 2 in. central vacuum tubing, and place it partway along a long run rather than right next to the power unit, since that gives it more of the pipe network to relieve when a clog forms further out. A valve like this one is a low-cost safeguard against the far more expensive job of replacing a motor that overheated during a blockage.
