This elbow, part 91615, is the angled airflow fitting for the Douglas Quikit Ultra Upright AVC, sitting between the hose and the rest of the vacuum's intake.
Elbows in this position take repeated flexing every time the hose is moved, and the plastic can crack or the joint can loosen at the seat over years of use. Once that happens, air escapes at the fitting upstream of the bag, and the nozzle loses suction even though the motor still sounds strong.
