This is the detent spring for the Eureka Sanitaire SP610A and SC6600A commercial upright vacuums. The detent spring provides the tension that holds the handle-release pedal in its set positions, letting the handle lock upright for storage and click securely into the reclined cleaning angles. It also fits a range of Lux and Aerus uprights that share this mechanism.
A weak, stretched, or broken detent spring lets the handle flop loose or fail to hold its locked positions, which makes the machine awkward to push and store. Swapping in a fresh spring restores the crisp, positive detent action.
