The Sanitaire dirt cup is a genuine OEM replacement dirt container for Sanitaire and Eureka upright vacuums, including the SC689A. When the original cup cracks, warps, or stops seating properly, dust escapes back into the room and the vacuum loses the sealed airflow it needs to pick up debris effectively.
Because this is a factory part rather than a generic substitute, it locks into the upright housing the way the original did and keeps the dirt path sealed from nozzle to cup. That matters most in commercial settings, where these Sanitaire uprights are often run daily and emptied several times a shift.
