Fuller Brush Power Cord - F...

Product details

The FB-SM Speedy Maid two-speed upright and the Riccar RSL4 Supralite were built on shared tooling, down to the power cord wired into each one. D434-3643 is the cord for both machines, terminating at the same internal connections regardless of which nameplate is on the housing.

Cords fail at the two points that see constant flexing: right where they exit the machine base, and anywhere they get pinched under a wheel or wrapped tight around a cord hook. A cut cord that still runs is not safe to keep using, and a machine that cuts out only when the cord is bent near the housing is telling you the conductors are close to separating inside the jacket.

Inspect the full length before you condemn the cord, not just the section near the plug. Cracked outer jacket anywhere along the run, a warm spot when the machine has been running, or a section that feels stiffer than the rest are all signs the insulation has already broken down internally even if nothing is visibly exposed yet.

Fitting the new cord means opening the housing to disconnect the old leads and land the new ones on the same terminals, so this is not a job to start without a screwdriver and a little patience, or without unplugging the machine first. Note which lead lands on which terminal before you disconnect the old cord, since the two are not always symmetrical. Once the new cord is in and the housing is closed back up, run the machine through both speed settings before putting it back into service, since a two-speed switch that was disturbed during the repair is worth confirming works correctly on both settings.
