Hayden Premium Pipe Cutter ...

Product details
A central vacuum joint only seals if the pipe end going into it is cut square. A ragged, angled cut from a hacksaw leaves gaps at the fitting shoulder, and those gaps show up later as a slow air leak that saps suction at every inlet downstream, not just the one nearest the bad joint.
This cutter is built to take that variable out of the job: one squeeze produces a clean, perpendicular cut with no burr to file down before gluing. It comes with one blade already mounted and ready to use straight out of the box.
- Cuts: 2 inch PVC pipe used in central vacuum runs
- Includes: One blade, pre-installed
- Result: Square, deburred cuts ready for solvent welding
- Replacement blades: Hayden 5-pack, part 754501, sold separately
A blade that starts leaving a slight burr or drags through the cut instead of snapping through cleanly is the sign to swap it, well before it stops cutting altogether. Pushing a dulling blade through more cuts than it has left in it is what leads to the ragged, off-square cuts that cause leaks at the joint later.
For a single small job this cutter pays for itself in avoided leaks alone, since a callback to chase down a whistling joint costs more time than the tool. For an installer running multiple jobs, keeping a spare blade on hand from the 5-pack means a dulling edge never turns into a delay mid-install. A single blade will get through a surprising number of cuts on standard-wall central vacuum pipe before it needs swapping, but pipe with hard mineral scale or old solvent residue on the outside wears an edge noticeably faster.
