Product details

Bissell's 66T61 bagless canister pulls its exhaust air through part 2037414, a HEPA filter seated right after the motor as the final stage before air leaves the machine.

A HEPA filter on a bagless canister works harder than most, since there is no bag pre-filtering the airstream ahead of it. Dust and dander accumulate directly in the media, and the effect on performance shows up as reduced airflow at the nozzle well before the filter looks obviously dirty. A rise in motor pitch or a faint dusty smell from the exhaust are usually the first signs, ahead of any visible discoloration.

  • Part: 2037414, HEPA post-motor filter
  • Fits: Bissell 66T61 bagless canister
  • Replace: when airflow drops or the exhaust develops a dusty smell

Because this canister has no bag ahead of the filter, skipping a scheduled change costs more performance than it would on a bagged machine. Check it on a set interval rather than waiting for a symptom to force the issue, and look over any other filter the machine carries at the same time, since filter stages on one machine tend to load together rather than one at a time. A canister used mostly on carpet will generally load this filter faster than one worked on hard floors, simply because carpet holds more fine material to give up. It is also worth confirming the dirt bin closes cleanly each time, since anything getting past a bin that no longer seals reaches this filter sooner than the amount of debris collected would suggest.
