    This complete cleaning hose assembly carries Hoover part number 43491074. Parts indexes list that number with the hose assemblies used on Hoover SteamVac carpet cleaners, cross-referenced with 43491075, 304042001, 90001351 and 440007181, and those assemblies run from the machine out to a hand cleaning tool rather than down to a floor nozzle.

    A cleaning hose is a sealed path between the machine and the tool on the end of it. Once the wall of the hose splits, stiffens and cracks with age, or works loose where it meets a cuff, air leaks in before it ever reaches the tool, and cleaning power at the hand tool falls off even though the machine itself sounds and runs exactly as it did before.
