Returns & Exchanges

Need to return an item? We’re happy to help. Eligible items may be returned by requesting authorization within 35 days of delivery. Once approved, your return must reach us within 21 days.

Return eligibility

Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.

Shipping and refunds

For non-defective returns, customers cover return shipping. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable. If your order included free shipping, our actual outbound shipping cost will be deducted from your refund. Eligible returns have no restocking fee.

Product details

Hoover's S3865 canister vacuum draws air through a foam-and-mesh pre-motor filter positioned just ahead of the motor, where it keeps fine dust and debris from reaching the motor. Part 303090001 is the replacement filter for that position.

This filter also fits the Hoover SH40050 and SH40055 canister models, which take the same filter. Match the part number stamped on the old filter to 303090001 before ordering.

A loaded pre-motor filter makes the motor pull harder to move the same amount of air, which shows up as a canister that feels weaker at the wand even though the hose and nozzle are clear. It is a common first check whenever suction drops but nothing looks obviously blocked.

Check the filter every month or two of regular use, and put in a fresh one once it stays gray after a shake-out. Leaving a clogged pre-motor filter in place too long is one of the more common ways to shorten a motor's working life, and it is a cheap habit to keep up next to the cost of the motor itself.
