Hoover Tension Washer - 706...

$6.99

Product details

This tension washer belongs in the agitator bearing of the Hoover 7069 and 7071, part 21345113. Its job is to keep a steady preload on the bearing so the brush roll spins freely without end play.

When the washer loses its spring the bearing runs either loose or tight. Loose gives you a brush roll that rattles and wanders sideways in its cradle, chewing at the belt edge. Tight gives you drag, heat and a bearing that fails early. Either way you usually hear it before you feel it, as a whine or a rumble from the nozzle that changes pitch when the machine is tipped back.

It fits the Hoover 7069 and 7071 agitator bearing. Since the roll has to come out to reach it, check the belt and the bearing itself while everything is on the bench.
