Product details
Rough-in day for a new central vacuum system calls for pipe, control wire, and wall outlets in one order rather than three separate ones, and that is what this Johnny Vac kit bundles together. The kit carries 48 linear feet of central vacuum pipe, enough to route runs to three cleaning locations in a typical single-story layout.
Alongside the pipe, the kit includes a 65-foot run of low-voltage wire, which carries the on and off signal from each wall inlet back to the power unit rather than switching the line-voltage motor circuit directly. That separation between control wiring and motor wiring is what lets a central vacuum system use a light-gauge wire for the switching signal instead of running heavy circuit wiring to every inlet. Three white wall inlet valves with mounting brackets round out the kit, along with the fitting assortment a three-inlet run actually consumes: sweep 90 elbows, 45 degree elbows, short 90s, sweep tees, stop couplings, pipe straps, and a can of PVC cement.
Because pipe and rough-in wire ship as fixed lengths, measure the planned run from the power unit location to each inlet before ordering, accounting for the actual path the pipe will take through joist bays and wall cavities rather than a straight-line distance. Longer houses or runs with several turns can use up 48 feet of pipe faster than a straight shot suggests, and coming up short mid-install means placing a second order.
Sort the pipe, wire, and inlet hardware before starting the run so each trip up a ladder or into an attic covers one section rather than a partial one. Part ATT123.
