The molded grip on top of the handle fork is the one part of a Kirby your hand actually holds during use, and 675706 is the replacement grip assembly for the Sentria. Over time it cracks around the fork and eventually breaks off in pieces, and given how much this machine weighs, losing that grip means losing your steering over where the nozzle goes.
A grip with a crack that has not yet let go still gives slightly under a firm hold, a noticeably different feel from an intact grip's solid resistance. Once that flex is noticeable, plan on replacing it soon rather than waiting for it to fail mid-pass, which is a far worse time to find out.
Removing the upper cord hook's screw frees the old grip to slide off the fork, and pliers help if any of it has already broken away. Push the new grip on fully, then reattach the cord hook, putting each piece of the screw's hardware back exactly where it came from, and work over a table rather than carpet since those pieces are small enough to vanish the moment they drop.
The grip ships without the upper cord hook assembly, since that part stays on the machine and gets reused as is. Check the cord hook screw again a few weeks after this repair, since it tends to work loose on its own. Run a hand along the fork above and below the new grip once everything is back together to confirm there is no play left between the two, since a grip that is not fully seated will loosen again within a handful of uses.
