Product details

This spool, part TFFIL1RLUS, holds 500 ft of 22-gauge, two-conductor wire for the low-voltage side of a central vacuum installation.

A central vacuum inlet does not carry the vacuum's full line voltage out to the wall. Instead each inlet carries a light-duty low-voltage signal back to the power unit, telling it to switch on the moment a hose gets plugged into an inlet, and to switch off again once it is unplugged. This 22/2 wire is sized for that signal circuit rather than for line power, and it is run alongside the PVC tubing from every inlet back to the unit, typically stapled or clipped to the same framing the pipe follows.

  • Part: TFFIL1RLUS
  • Wire: 22 gauge, 2 conductor
  • Length: 500 ft spool
  • Use: low-voltage inlet wiring for a central vacuum system

A 500 ft spool covers the inlet count of most home installations with wire left over for a future add-on inlet, which makes it a practical size to keep on a truck or in a shop for both a full rough-in and a one-off repair to a signal wire that has come loose or broken at a staple.
