This central vacuum pipe adapter converts 1-13/16 inch outside diameter pipe to standard 2 inch outside diameter central vacuum pipe. It is a white fitting used in central vacuum installations where two different pipe sizes meet, most often when extending or repairing an older tubing run with the 2 inch pipe that is standard today.
Mixed pipe sizes are common in homes where a central vacuum system has been serviced over the years, and a proper adapter is the difference between a sealed, efficient run and a joint that leaks suction into the wall cavity. Central vacuum fittings like this one are universal and compatible with standard central vacuum tubing.
For permanent connections, join the adapter with PVC cement so the fitting stays airtight for the life of the installation. A few well-placed adapters let you tie old and new tubing together into one whole-home system without tearing out the original pipe.
