A crack, gap, or perished seal anywhere in that run drains suction before the airflow even reaches the filter, which explains how a machine can lose real pickup while the bag and filter both still look clean.
Suspect this kit whenever a machine has lost pickup even though the bag was just changed, the filter is clean, and the brush roll turns freely by hand with the belt off.
