This foot-operated pedal turns Riccar Sunburst and Simplicity Jill canister vacuums on and off, sold as part B361-4000. It is the plastic paddle on top of the canister body that you press with a shoe, and pressing it trips the switch assembly mounted underneath.
Because the pedal and the switch beneath it are two separate parts, it helps to work out which one has actually failed before ordering. A pedal that moves freely under your foot but does nothing at the switch usually points to the switch itself, while a pedal that is loose, sits crooked, or does not spring back on its own is almost always the pedal.

This is the pedal itself, not the switch or the wiring behind it, so ordering it will not fix a canister that has no power at all.
