Rocker switches wear from the inside out, which is what makes them frustrating to diagnose. Nothing looks wrong from the outside. The action simply goes soft, the detent stops feeling definite, and eventually the machine only runs when the rocker is held at a particular point or pressed a second time. Because both poles are switched, a failure takes the whole machine down rather than one circuit, so the fault presents as a DART that will not start at all on some days and behaves perfectly on others.
