Part 53574A5 is a matched pair of gray plastic cord hooks, upper and lower, that snap around the chrome handle rail of a range of Eureka and Sanitaire commercial uprights, with a cross-listing to the Bissell BG102DC. Both hooks come in the kit and each one locks into place without drilling or hardware, so the swap is a matter of prying the old ones free and pressing the new ones on.
These hooks carry the full weight and twisting load of the cord every time it gets wound at the end of a shift, and that repeated torque is what eventually cracks the clip or snaps the neck where it meets the handle rail. Once one hook is gone, the cord has nowhere secure to sit: it drapes loose across the bare handle, slips down, ends up underfoot, and gets rolled over by the machine's own wheels.
A pair of flat-blade screwdrivers, worked from opposite sides of the old hook, pops the clip loose without marking the handle tube underneath.
