Product details
Order part 1029 when a small cover screw on an X7 or X8, a SOFTCASE or a DISCO has been rounded, stripped or lost. It is the C 2.9 x 13, measuring 2.9 mm across the thread and 13 mm under the head, a self-tapping screw with a cross-recessed pan head that drives straight into the moulded boss without a nut behind it. It is stocked one at a time.
Screws this fine are unforgiving of a power driver. The thread cuts its own path into the plastic on first assembly, and a fast, over-torqued reinstall shaves that path away instead of following it. The result is a screw that spins freely in a hole it has just destroyed, and a cover that will not sit down however hard it is pushed. Turn the last half turn by hand and the new screw will hold for as long as the machine lasts.
- Part number: 1029
- Fits: SEBO X7, X8, SOFTCASE and DISCO
- Size: 2.9 mm diameter, 13 mm long
- Type: C tapping screw, cross-recessed pan head
- Sold: each
- Shorter and longer 2.9 mm screws: part 100 at 9.5 mm and part 1000 at 16 mm
Check the length against the one you removed, because the same head appears on shorter and longer versions of this screw and none of them can be told apart by eye. Where a machine takes several 2.9 mm screws, lay them out in the order they come off so each returns to the hole it originally cut.
The situation that brings most people here is a cover that will not sit down after a service. One screw spins endlessly instead of drawing tight, or its recess has been chewed out to the point where no driver will grip. Neither is worth persevering with. A fresh screw bites into material the old one never reached and the panel pulls flat on the first attempt.
