A T20 Torx head is what separates this fastener from the older slotted and cross-head screws in the SEBO parts book. The six-lobe recess spreads the driver load around a much larger contact area, so it takes far more torque before it rounds, and it is the head fitted on the X7 and X8, on FELIX and DART machines, on the SOFTCASE, on the 300 and 350, and on the DISCO.

Use a proper T20 bit rather than a close-fitting hex key or a flat blade. A rounded recess on an STS 4 x 16 usually ends in drilling the head off, which is a far longer afternoon than replacing a screw that first felt loose. The screws worth inspecting are the ones on any machine that has been apart more than once, because a recess that has begun to round will still drive today and slip at the worst possible moment during the next service.

Measure before ordering. SEBO lists 4 mm Torx screws at 13, 16 and 20 mm, all with the same head and the same T20 recess, and telling them apart by eye once they are loose in a tray is guesswork. Putting the 13 mm where the 16 mm belongs leaves the joint half clamped, which shows up later as a creak along a seam rather than as an obvious failure.

Replace one when the recess has begun to open out, when the screw no longer draws the panel down however far it is turned, or when a strip-down has left you a fastener short. None of those is worth working around, because a body screw that has stopped clamping passes its share of the load to the fixings on either side of it, and those then fail in turn.
