Fitting size, not function, is the whole job of this small collar. Part 6179CLR converts the connection on the hand-held turbo brush 6179ER to a 1 1/4 in. cuff, which is the size the premium SEBO canisters expect at the wand end. The 1766ST adapter is needed alongside it to complete the joint.
Owners usually come looking for this piece in one of three situations: a turbo brush has been bought and will not seat on the wand, the original collar has cracked where it grips, or a secondhand machine arrived without it. SEBO sells it separately precisely because the brush outlives the fitting — the collar is the part that takes the twisting load every time the tool is pushed on and pulled off, and it is far cheaper to renew than the brush itself.
A loose or split cuff shows itself before it fails outright. The brush wobbles at the joint, air whistles where the two parts meet, and the roller slows because the airflow driving it is escaping at the connection rather than passing through the brush housing. That last symptom is the one that misleads people, since a turbo brush which has stopped spinning looks like a seized roller when the actual fault is a leak upstream of it. Once a sound collar is fitted the tool seats firmly and the roller turns as it should on airflow alone.
Note the two-part arrangement when ordering. The collar sets the fitting size and the 1766ST adapter bridges it to the wand, so both are needed on the premium canisters listed below; the 1777ST extender is a separate item again, used to bring the turbo brush within reach on those same machines. Checking which of the three is actually missing before ordering saves a second delivery.
