The tube takes most of the knocks on any vacuum. Doorframes, stair nosings and furniture legs all land on it, and a cracked or dented one leaks air the entire time the machine is in use. Part 8831AM is the replacement suction tube for the Balance A1, the rigid section carrying the airstream from the floor head up to the machine body. SEBO marks it as item 9 in the parts diagram for this model.
Because everything downstream depends on it, a compromised tube is felt everywhere else. Air drawn in through a split partway along the length never passes the floor head at all, so the nozzle can be perfectly clean and the pile still fails to lift. A joint that no longer locks firmly does the same thing intermittently, which is harder to diagnose than an outright break, since the pull comes and goes as the tube is flexed during a pass.
Order 8831AM if the tube has been dropped or stepped on, if it will not lock securely at either end, or if suction at the floor head has fallen away while the filter and the brush roll are both known to be clear. Being a genuine SEBO component, the couplings line up with the rest of the machine at both ends, which is the detail generic tubing tends to get slightly wrong and then leak from. The matching flexible section for above-floor work is 8830AM.
