Opening the brush compartment on a SEBO X2 depends on one small white latch, and part 5239DG is the replacement for it. Press the latch, the cover unlocks, and the brush roller is right there for clearing hair and thread or fitting a new brush.
The tab is thin by design, because it has to flex in order to work, and it takes the load every single time the cover is opened. Cracks and lost spring tension are therefore ordinary on an older machine rather than exceptional. A worn latch shows itself in one of two ways. It fights the cover on the way in, so the compartment never quite shuts, or it fails to hold at all and lets the cover lift while the vacuum is running, which is both noisy and a good way to lose the cover somewhere between two rooms.
