Part D012-0200 is a wooden brush roll, 14 inches long, built for the 4000 and 6000 series uprights that Riccar and Simplicity both sold, as well as the related Vibrance line. Coverage extends to the Riccar R100, R500 and R20E, and to the Simplicity 6370, 6470, 6600, 6670 and S20E Symmetry models.
The cleaning work happens at the bristle strips set into the roll, which stand carpet fibers upright so the airflow moving past can draw soil out from the base of the pile instead of skimming the surface. A roll that has gone out of true will not do that evenly across the full 14 inches, so if wear looks worse at one end than the other, check the roll against a straight edge before deciding the machine is at fault.
Bristles shorten and splay outward over time, and once they stop reaching down into the pile the roll begins skating over carpet instead of working it. The surface can pass for freshly cleaned while the fibers stay pressed flat underneath, and pet hair in particular gets left behind rather than pulled up. Thread and hair wrapped tight at the bristle base is what shortens a roll's life fastest, so cutting it free at every bag change buys the roll real extra service.
