Hayden Slip Coupling - Cent...

Product details

Part 765528W is Hayden's slip coupling, made to join two lengths of central vacuum pipe measuring 2 inches on the outside diameter end to end. Unlike an elbow or a tee, it does not change direction or add a branch; it simply extends a run or repairs a break in one.

Repairs are where a slip coupling earns its keep most often. When a pipe cracks, gets damaged during other work in a wall, or needs to be cut to relocate an inlet, the fix is to remove the bad section and bridge the gap with a coupling on each end of a new piece of pipe. Because a slip coupling has a socket on both sides rather than a socket and a spigot, it is the piece that makes that kind of mid-run splice possible without special tooling.

New installations use the same fitting any time a run needs to extend past the length of a single stick of pipe, which is routine on longer trunk lines. In either case, the coupling only does its job if both joints are cemented fully around their circumference; a coupling tacked on just one side is a slow leak in the making, and a leak mid-run pulls suction from every inlet downstream of it.

This is a generic fitting sized to fit standard central vacuum pipe of that same outside diameter, so it pairs with the pipe already run in the wall rather than one specific power unit brand. Keep a couple on hand for any repair job; it is common not to know a coupling is needed until the damaged section of pipe is already cut out and the gap is sitting open in the wall.

  • Part: 765528W, Hayden slip coupling
  • Fits: standard 2-inch OD central vacuum PVC pipe
  • Use: joining or repairing a pipe run end to end, no change of direction
