Royal Height Adjustment Spr...

Product details

Inside Royal's all-metal upright body, nozzle height rides on a spring-loaded rod inside the nozzle body, and 1003009000 is that part, holding whatever setting the dial lands on.

Coverage runs across the Royal Metal Everlast RY8200, RY8300, RY8400 and UR38300, plus the Royal CR5128, CR5130 and CR5158. The rod carries spring tension continuously, bearing the machine's own weight every time the nozzle crosses a floor transition or the handle gets tipped back to reach under furniture. Metal under constant cyclic load fatigues over years of use, and a rod that bends, loses its temper, or snaps outright can no longer hold a setting.

The failure is easy to mistake for something else. The nozzle sinks to its lowest setting and drags on carpet, or it wanders between settings mid pass so the machine fights you one moment and glides the next. Because the symptom shows up as the machine being hard to push, or as the brush roll suddenly roaring against bare floor where the head has sunk too low, plenty of people spend weeks chasing belts and brush rolls before anyone thinks to check the rod itself. Opening up the base of the nozzle and watching for play at each height setting is usually enough to confirm it. It is a job well within reach of anyone comfortable with a screwdriver, and there is no wiring or motor work involved since the rod is a purely mechanical part.

  • Part: height adjustment spring rod, 1003009000
  • Fits: Royal Metal Everlast RY8200, RY8300, RY8400, UR38300; Royal CR5128, CR5130, CR5158
  • Function: holds nozzle height against spring tension and machine weight
  • Symptom: nozzle settles at its lowest point or slips between settings mid-clean
  • Change alongside: the height adjustment dial and detent if either feels loose in the housing

It is a small, inexpensive part for the amount of trouble a worn one causes, and worth checking before spending money on a belt or brush roll that was never the actual problem.
