Where the cleaning head meets the body on a SEBO ELECTRONIC 370, the swivel neck carries the whole articulation. Part 2609UL is that assembly, supplied built up rather than as a handful of loose components.

Steering an upright puts every side load through this joint. Push the handle left and the neck takes the twist; lean on it to get under a coffee table and it takes the bending load as well. A neck that has cracked shows up as a head that will not track straight, a machine that has to be wrestled around furniture, and a growing amount of play that can be felt by rocking the body against the head with the machine switched off.

Fitting the complete assembly instead of chasing individual pieces returns the pivot to its designed clearances in one operation, which is usually the quicker route on a machine that has already been apart once. The cover that sits over the finished joint is 2602HG, the brace behind it is 2613, and the lead that passes through it is 2611UL. All three are worth inspecting while the area is open, because the same impact that cracks a neck tends to take one of them with it.

Ordering the assembly also removes the guesswork about which moulding in the joint had actually failed, which is genuinely hard to judge once several of them have been working against each other for a while. Photograph the cable run through the neck before anything is stripped, and take the wiring out before the mechanical parts rather than after.
