This Trovac electro-motor is a tangential bypass replacement for central vacuum power units, built with a 1.875 in exhaust tube in place.

Tangential bypass motors draw their own cooling air in on a path that enters the fan housing at an angle, apart from the suction stream, so the motor stays cleaner over its service life than a design that pulls the working airflow straight through it. The short 1.875 in tube on this build is meant for a housing outlet positioned near the motor rather than one set well back from it. A worn motor of this kind usually gives some warning before it quits: listen for a rising pitch, a new rattle, or heat at the housing that was not there before, since those signs typically show up ahead of a noticeable drop in suction.
