Part 17-8922-09 sits inside the exhaust outlet of a Titan T750 backpack vacuum, or a central vacuum system built to the same standard exhaust fit, and its job is simple: soak up the noise the motor pushes out the back of the machine.
Foam wears out from heat and constant airflow long before anything else on the machine does. It compresses, then turns crumbly, and eventually a piece breaks free and falls out without any warning sign beforehand. The tell is easy to mistake for something bigger than it is: the machine gets noticeably louder, the exhaust note picks up a harder, more mechanical edge, and yet suction and everything else about how the unit runs stays exactly where it was.
Swapping the sponge is one of the least expensive fixes available on a T750, and it sits at the exhaust outlet where routine service already reaches. Anyone running these machines on a daily commercial route is better off keeping a spare sponge on the shelf than losing a work session to the wait.
