Titan On/off Button - T1400...

Product details

The on/off button on a Titan T1400 compact canister is the cap you actually press, sitting over a switch mechanism underneath that does the real work. It looks purely cosmetic, and mostly it is, until it cracks or goes missing.

Once the cap is gone, the bare switch is left open to the household grit a vacuum spends its whole life around, and that exposure is usually what finishes off the switch rather than the cap failing on its own. Long before it fails outright, a damaged cap is just irritating to use: catching partway through its travel, sitting crooked, or needing a fingernail to find any purchase at all. On a compact canister that gets picked up and set down as often as the T1400, the power button also collects more presses in a year than nearly any other control on the machine, and small caps like this wear out from that repetition alone.

This is part 17-9605-01, and it mounts in place of the original cap. As long as the switch beneath it responds with a firm, deliberate click, swapping this cap is the entire repair. Check the fit against your machine's parts diagram before starting, and line the cap up squarely as it seats, since forcing a small plastic part in crooked can crack the new one on the first install.

If pressing the button gives no click and the machine does not respond at all, the fault has likely moved past the cap and into the switch itself, which is a separate repair. Test with the cap removed, operating the switch directly, before deciding whether this cap alone will solve the problem. A switch that clicks firmly under direct finger pressure but not through the cap points to the cap itself as the fault, confirming this is the correct fix.
