This cap is a Trovac-supplied fitting sold under the Vaculine name, the central vacuum installation line Trovac lists under PVC pipes and fittings. It plugs an open, unused length of central vacuum PVC line, ordered as part TF5547BV.
A capped line keeps the whole system airtight. Any unsealed pipe pulls in outside air instead of dirt at the wall inlets, so capping a stubbed branch, or a run built ahead of a future room addition, protects the suction that reaches the inlets already in service. It is a small part, but leaving a line open is one of the more common reasons a central vacuum system loses pull at the hose end.
Like the rest of the Vaculine PVC line, it is a solvent weld fitting rather than a threaded one. Clean the pipe first, apply central vacuum PVC cement to both surfaces, and seat the cap fully before the cement sets so the joint cures airtight and permanent. Central vacuum PVC uses its own pipe and cement standard, so this cap bonds reliably with the Vaculine and Trovac pipe it was made for, not with general plumbing-grade PVC of a similar size.
