Black is the outlier among the three finishes Hide-A-Hose offers on its 5000 series inlet, and HS5000B is that version. Like the almond and white kits, it supplies a working inlet rather than a finish plate: the inlet valve, the full finish inlet door, a low voltage switch, four screws, and two wire nuts.
Almond and white were chosen to disappear into decades of standard wall plates. Black reads as deliberate instead, and suits a room already built around dark hardware and fixtures. Since an inlet sits low on a wall and stays there for the life of the house, that is worth weighing against the rest of the room rather than in isolation.
Underneath the finish this is the current 5000 series valve: roughly 38 percent smaller than the earlier Hide-A-Hose valves, with an improved rubber door seal, a reworked hose locking system, and a simple on and off switch. It adjusts to wall thicknesses up to one and a half inches.
Confirm your system is on the 5000 series before ordering. The older HS4000 valve and the 6000 PRO each take their own trim, and none of the three lines are interchangeable with one another. If the rough-in label behind the wall is still legible, that settles the question faster than judging from the shape of the door you are replacing.
