This is the height adjustment sensor for the Eureka Sanitaire SP5035A, SP5035AZ, SP5035B, and SP5035BZ commercial upright vacuums. The sensor is part of the automatic carpet-height system, detecting the pile depth of the surface so the cleaning head sets itself to the correct height for effective deep cleaning across thick carpet, low-pile, and bare floors.
When this sensor fails, the machine may not adjust properly — the head can ride too high (weak cleaning) or too low (hard to push, brushroll drag). Installing a fresh sensor restores the self-adjusting behavior these SP5035 models were built to provide.
