This pigtail wiring connector, part 440009081, carries power between two points inside the Hoover CH34006 backpack vacuum. When a pigtail frays, corrodes, or loosens at its terminal, the symptoms it produces can look a lot like other, more expensive failures.
Wiring connections like this one are easy to overlook because a damaged pigtail does not always fail completely. It can cause a machine that only powers up when the cord happens to sit at one particular angle, power that drops out when the unit gets jostled during use, or a connection that feels warm to the touch after a shift.
