This OEM Hoover bottom plate retainer spring for the Model 65 holds the bottom plate closed against the nozzle, and it also fits Hoover 1030 and similar models. The spring keeps tension on the plate so it stays latched during cleaning.
If the retainer spring weakens or breaks, the bottom plate can loosen or pop open, exposing the brush roll and disrupting the airflow seal at the floor. A fresh spring restores firm latch tension so the plate stays shut and the nozzle keeps a proper seal.
