Rainbow Power Nozzle Wheel ...

Product details

R1704B is the wheel axle for the Rainbow power nozzle used with the D3, D4 and D4SE. The wheel turns on it, so it carries the weight of the head every time the nozzle is pushed across a floor.

Axles bend when a head is dropped or dragged sideways, and they corrode where moisture sits against them. Either way the wheel stops running true - you feel it as a head that pushes heavily to one side, or see it as a wheel that visibly wobbles and scrubs against its housing. A nozzle that cannot roll evenly also cannot hold the brush roll at a consistent height across the carpet.

Look at the wheel itself while the axle is out. One that has been running on a bent axle usually has an ovalled bore and will not last long on a straight one.
