Filtration only works when the air has nowhere else to go, and that is exactly this panel's job. Part 5007GW is the white filter cover made for the SEBO X1 and the SEBO X2: the lid that swings shut across the filter compartment and pins the media down onto its seat.
Air leaving the bag chamber is meant to be forced through the filter element rather than around it. The cover provides that pressure and seals the compartment, so it counts as a filtration component in its own right even though it filters nothing itself. When the cover warps, cracks at a hinge or stops latching down, air takes the easy route around the media instead of through it.
