Cord storage on a SEBO upright is three components working as one, and SEBO sells them under a single order code. For red machines that code is 5768DR, covering the AUTOMATIC X4 and the AUTOMATIC X4 Boost. Inside are red cable hook 5703DR, carrying handle 5721 and stop spring 5146 — the same three pieces the exploded view shows in consecutive positions at the top of the body.
Their duties divide neatly. Cord wraps hang from the hook for however long the vacuum sits in a cupboard, a static load applied for days at a time. The grip beneath gives a hand something solid to work against while the cord goes on, and bears the machine's weight whenever it is picked up. Behind the hook, the spring holds everything at the angle it was set to, resisting the steady outward tug of a full coil. Any one of the three failing spoils the arrangement: a tired spring lets the wraps slide, a hook broken at its boss leaves nothing to wind onto, and a split grip makes the machine awkward to move. Since all three are handled at the start and the end of every clean, they reach the end of their lives at roughly the same time, which is the logic behind the kit.
