Items must be unused, in new condition, and in original packaging with all accessories. For non-defective returns you pay return shipping; original shipping charges are not refunded, and if your order shipped free our actual outbound shipping cost is deducted from the refund. This no-spring handle socket assembly is a replacement for the pivot joint linking the upper handle to the body on the Eureka and Sanitaire uprights historically known as the 684, 886, and 888 lines, part number 381831SV.
That joint is what lets the handle recline for use and stand upright for storage, and it carries every push and pull the machine takes. Once it cracks or the pivot wears oval, the handle stops holding its recline angle and starts to wobble from side to side as you work. Wear here builds up gradually, so the first sign is usually a little play at the joint rather than an outright break, and play that has already started is worth dealing with before it strands the machine mid-job.
