Kirby Drive System Assembly...

Product details

Part 552317G is the drive system transmission for the Kirby Avalir 2. It sits in the base of the machine and turns motor power into forward and reverse travel, which is the difference between guiding a Kirby and heaving one.

The complaint is usually simple: the AV2 no longer self-propels. Sometimes it creeps instead of driving, sometimes it pulls in one direction only, and sometimes there is a grinding note under the base whenever the pedal goes down. Those are transmission symptoms rather than belt symptoms, though the drive belt is worth ruling out first because it is the cheaper part by a wide margin.

This unit is specific to the Avalir 2. Earlier Kirby generations use their own drive assemblies, so check the badge on your machine before ordering.
