Product details

Part A03785101 is the power switch for the Sanitaire S5000 Eon and SC5500 upright, the switch that carries line voltage to the motor every time the machine is turned on. It is one of the first components to wear on a machine that runs long daily shifts, since it takes a mechanical actuation every single cycle.

A worn switch shows up as a vacuum that needs its control worked once or twice before it catches, or one that cuts power mid-clean and comes back on by itself. Neither symptom points anywhere else in the machine; if the cord and plug check out and the switch still will not hold contact reliably, it has worn past its useful life.

The same part number covers several model names across the Sanitaire, Eureka, and Electrolux-Eureka uprights listed below, so check your model number against that list before ordering rather than going by appearance, since switches of this type look much alike from one machine to the next.

Replacing it is a wire-for-wire job. Unplug the machine first, note the lead positions before you disconnect anything, and reconnect them exactly as they came off, since a switch wired out of position can still click without actually completing the circuit to the motor. If the leads or terminals are corroded, deal with that at the same time or the new switch will show the same intermittent fault.
