SEBO lists this one at position 102 in the AUTOMATIC X7 / X8 parts diagram, described there as the complete exhaust filter cover in dark red. Part 52029DR is the grille that clamps the exhaust filter into its bay on the X7.
Its job is pressure rather than filtration. The cover keeps the media flat and square on its seat so that exhaust air cannot sneak past the rim, which is the difference between air leaving the machine filtered and air leaving it merely warm. Covers fail in predictable ways for a clipped plastic part that gets flexed at every filter change: a clip snaps because the moulding has aged, or the frame splits across a mounting point after the machine has gone over. Once that happens the filter sits loose in its pocket, and dust that should have been trapped goes out into the room instead. The usual clues are a fine grey film settling on nearby surfaces within a day of vacuuming, or a distinct smell of dust while the machine is running.
Because the cover is what holds the filter in even contact with its seat, a loose one also shortens the life of every filter fitted behind it. The media loads unevenly, channels form where the air is finding a path of least resistance, and the filter needs changing sooner while doing less in the meantime. A sound cover in the correct dark red presses the media evenly back down, and exhaust that had been slipping past the edge is driven through the media where it belongs.
