Three different SEBO parts drawings land on this one small clamp: position 115 on the SEBO 300/350 Mechanical sheet, position 131 on the ESSENTIAL G4/G5, and position 138 on the SOFTCASE CE12, where the factory list files it under the heading bracket. Part 2849 is the piece that keeps the pile wheel axle sitting in its seat, and it covers the ESSENTIAL G1, G2, G4 and G5, the 300 MECHANICAL, the 350 MECHANICAL and the CE12 SOFTCASE between them.
Its job is retention, not motion. The pile wheel axle is held captive by the clamp, and the clamp is what stops the axle walking sideways in its housing while the machine is worked back and forth across a room. Once the clamp is sprung, cracked, or has lost the grip in its jaws, the axle develops end float: the height setting wanders, a knock develops at the base of the machine, and the wheel that should be setting nozzle height starts running out of line with its opposite number.
The clamp is cheap and it is usually the casualty when a chassis is opened up, so it belongs on the order alongside any axle or height-adjustment work rather than being refitted after it has already been sprung once. On the ESSENTIAL G and 300/350 machines the shaft it holds is pile adjustment axle 2861, the spring in that assembly is 2867, the spring clamp is 2856, the rubbing plate is 2869HG and the pile adjustment wheel is 5174HG.
